I received this comment today and got really excited. I immediately sat down and typed the first thing that popped into my mind. Here it is…
What is art?
-use no more than 30 words
-no need for a complete sentence
-english only
-no dictionary definitions
-from your own thoughts, please – even if they are recycled thoughts!
My response…
Art is culture, a boundless expression, absolute madness, inner voices, passion, and hunger, a pure distorted reflection of beauty, dreams, and lies; it’s a reinvention of everything – Art is life.
Now it’s your turn!
Current mood: artistic

I’m not an artist, so bear with me:
Art is you, shared.
Are you sure you’re not an artist?
art is a visual expression of one’s feelings, thoughts, culture
paintings photography sculptures drawings
thats all i got…azzy says hi!
Try not to limit yourself to visual art as Ryan points out. Any creative output could be construed as art. Theater, dance, poetry, music, not to mention all the awful, awful performance art being “performed” daily.
Art is creative consideration. An out-pour of forethought and emotion into a creation which, with careful consideration, brings beauty, inspiration, emotion, and possibly personal discovery in others.
Well, I think that covers all the artists there could be. The considerate ones! 🙂
Art is there specifically to be judged, whether acknowledged or not, agreed upon or not. Without judgment, art is simply a picture, some notes, a few words, a bit of movement. Without judgment, there can be no defense of the art. Without defense, there is no ability to see the passion. Without the passion, art is nothing but a waste of time. If the passion does not spill forth for others to see — to be judged inspired or pointless — then the piece is no better than a thought kept hidden in the artist’s mind.
“…a thought kept hidden in the artist’s mind.”
If anything, that.
