I grew up loving Star Wars. I had a whole slew of toys, posters, and magazines devoted to the revolutionary film. However, where I had Luke and Vader, my mother had Ken and Barbie. Through the years she has amassed an impressive collection of dolls and memorabilia. So, for this Mother’s Day, I found it fitting to add to her collection and created a portrait made up of painted corks of the very first Barbie doll.
Much wine was harmed in making this portrait.

I have memories or your mom pinning tiny squares of fabric to a similar grid, years ago, preparing a Barbie mini quilt!!!
Yes, and Dean helped me with it also… he showed me how to pixelate the photo… I am just loving the corks.
Love love love it…can’t wait to find the perfect spot for it…perhaps in my bedroom…
Thanks for the best Mom’s day gift ever!!!
I bet your mom LOVED it!!!!! Very cool. They sell stuff like this for THOUSANDS of dollars at places like Festival of the Arts. Last year I saw something similar (made with screws instead if corks) for like $5k. You could start a portrait studio. Except, your liver might not survive your art. Isn’t that true for most artists though?
Awesome! Well done sir! 🙂
